Cotswold Hilltop Barn
Renovation and Restoration
Renovation and Restoration
Our clients owned this derelict hilltop barn and asked us to convert it to create a weekend hideaway. We worked with Charlie Luxton Design to convert the original barn into a spacious, vaulted yet cosy living area and create a floor beneath the barn built into the hillside for bedroom accommodation. We used the local Great Tew stone to restore the original barn and to create the floor beneath it. The original trusses and purlins were restored and re-used and we took great care to retain many of the original features.
Interiors
Francesca worked closely with the client to ensure that all her wishes were met. She wanted to retain the cosy feeling she experienced with her family and friends having candle lit picnics inside the original barn. Clever design was essential to create this feeling within what was a large vaulted space, encompassing areas for cooking, dining and relaxing. We achieved this with a combination of lighting, exposed stone, a cosy fireplace and textured furnishings.
Each project is unique and reflects the quality of their workmanship and achieves the desired result of creating the perfect home.
